Pierre Charlot

AOC Bordeaux Clairet

Sainte Foy Bordeaux: This vast viticultural area is situated between St. Emilion and Bergerac, 80 km to the east of Bordeaux. The fertile hills of chalk and clay overlooking the Dordogne River.  This is a newer appellation with energetic vignerons seeking opportunities to distinguish themselves over their more complacent Bordelais counterparts. The Clairets from this district are truly exceptional:  the color is a deep ruby, highlighted with garnet and flavor presents summer fruits and spice.

Cépages: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc

Tasting Notes: Deeply red-colored with garnet highlights, presenting aromas loaded with little red fruits, black and red currants, lightly spiced, the velvety tannins amplify the fruited flavors detected by the nose.  Very well structured and beautifully balanced.

Recommended Food Pairings:   This is a very versatile wine and elegant wine which complements both simple dinners of grilled or roasted meats as well as those served with sauces.
