AOC
Sainte Foy Bordeaux:
This vast viticultural area is situated between St. Emilion and
Bergerac, 80 km to the east of Bordeaux. The fertile hills of chalk
and clay overlooking the Dordogne River. The Charlot vineyards
are composed of chalk and clay and are cultivated in accordance
with integrated farming techniques: organic fertilizers, no weed
killers or pesticides. The grapes are harvested using a combination
of manual and mechanical methods, then hand sorted on reception.
His 2005 captures the warmth and richness
of this excellent harvest. The wine is nearly half Cabernet Sauvignon,
and has the power and ageability that grape imparts. With Merlot
and Cabernet Franc to round out the blend, M. Charlot has crafted
a wonderful claret that is fully enjoyable now and capable of cellaring
as well.

About
the Producer: Pierre Charlot oversees a vineyard of
35 hectares that has been in his family since the 17th century.

much of his time and energy on the vineyard and has become the president

Tasting
Notes: A
deep ruby in color, the Château des Chapelains shows the black
currant of the Cabernet Sauvignon, the black cherry of the Merlot
and the cedar and herbal nuance of the Cabernet Franc. Supple
and smooth on the palate, it has soft, rounded cherry and blackcurrant
fruit flavors with the elegant, cedary, herbal, and earthy elements
that make fine red Bordeaux such a joy to drink. It also has the
balance and structure to age and improve for another 5+ years.
Recommended
Food Pairings: A medium-bodied red, Prelude pairs
well with grilled and roasted foods, both meat and poultry.
