Cheverny: The white
wine of Cheverny, an appellation to the west of the town of Orleans
in the Loire, represents a lively Sauvignon Blanc that competes
strongly with its sister in Sancerre. This is a newer appellation
(1993) recognized for the exceptional balance and fruitiness of
its wines. Very appealing.
Cepages:
80% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Chardonnay.
About the Producer:
Benoit Daridan's family has been making wine in the Loire Valley
since the 17th Century. He has long been award winning vigneron
of this region and quite passionate about the wine. The grapes are
pressed immediately upon harvest then allowed to rest and clear
before cold alcoholic fermentation. While the wine ferments
in stainless steel tanks, the juices receive batonnage every fortnight.
This wine is fruity and pleasant, meant to be enjoyed while young.
Tasting Notes:
A beautiful intense honey tone with aromas of ripe exotic fruits
combine harmoniously to exhibit a well-balanced fruited flavor.
