Gascony:
While the rolling hills
of Gascony are best known for the Three Musketeers and fiery spirit
we know as Armagnac, this idyllic region of France is home to an
increasing number of quality red and white table wines at truly
bargain prices. The white wines of Gascony, an appellation
best known for its rich soil and the production of fresh, aromatic
wines, is located just south and east of Bordeaux.

About
the Producer: The Morel family has overseen this vineyard
since 1920 and has over 250 acres of vines dedicated to the production
of exceptional white wines. At Domaine d'Uby the harvest is conducted
at night in order to preserve the fresh fruity flavors of the grapes.
This family vineyard is a member of the Independent Vignerons
- independent winemakers.
Tasting
Notes: A
flavorful, but crisp, clean and delightfully refreshing warm-weather
white. It shows zesty, fresh citrus, pear and apricot aromas backed
by hints of melon and fresh herbs. The flavors are crisp and bright
with surprising depth for such an affordable bottling. Zesty melon
and peach fruits are enhanced by elements of almond and citrus.
The finish is fresh and clean. Very balanced and versatile.
Recommended
Food Pairings: An exceptional and versatile wine that
pairs equally well with Salads, Seafood and Fish, as with Poultry
and goat cheeses.
Awards:
The Morels are exceptionally talented and have consistently won
awards and glowing recommendations in Guide Hachette as
well as a gold medal at the Paris Concours in 2008.
