Chateau La Grave d'Arzac

2008
AOC Graves

An exceptional wine from Bordeaux, France. Graves -

The best whites of the Bordeaux district come from the Graves region. The gravelly soils provide a hospitable environment for the Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc grapes.  The wine is an superb example of the refreshing, yet still substantial character of fine white Graves.   The area of Graves gets its name from the soil - a mix of gravels, clay and sand carried out by the river. The Graves appellation is located just outside the town of Bordeaux on the on the left banks of the Dordogne and Garronne Rivers. Due to the soil characteristics and unique micro-climate, the wines of Graves are recognizable by their aromatic nose and voluptuous palate. This one deserves your attention.

Cépages: Like all great Bordeaux - Semillon 80% and Sauvignon Gris 20%

Tasting NotesAn enticing bouquet with hints of pears, melons, peaches and citrus fruits backed by subtleties of smoke and herbs. The flavors are zesty and bright with a minerally-clean freshness that is the hallmark of good white Bordeaux . The palate-pleasing peach and melon fruit elements are enhanced by nuances of pear, herbs and smoky spice. A lovely example of the white wines that Graves has long been known for -  tart and refreshing with lovely fruity aromas.

Recommended Food Pairings: A fabulous companion to white meats and vegetables, quiches, salad, and cheeses; a fine companion for your favorite fresh fish or shellfish preparation. It's a delicious choice to have on hand for the season.
