Bordeaux
has long enjoyed the reputation for producing some of the best red
wines in the world - deeply aromatic, complex red wines. This region
is located to the east of Bordeaux where the clay and sand soil
is perfectly adapted to the creation of fine wines.
Cepages:
30% Merlot and 70% Cabernet Sauvignon
About
the Producer: Château Landonnet, an award winning vineyard
located east of Saint Emilion, was started in the mid 19th century
by the maternal ancestors of the family. After hand
harvesting, the grapes undergo a malolactic fermentation in new
oak barrels for 30 days, then are oak-aged for 16 months.
This wine truly deserves the name 'grand vin.'
Tasting
Notes: An intense, almost
purple, deep red with an intriguing bouquet of red cherries, toasted
oak, and vanilla; this well-structured, full-bodied wine presents
with the flavors of spice, round red fruits and.silky tannins.
Recommended Food Pairings: This is
a very 'food friendly' wine which pairs exceptionally well with
beef, lamb, duck, fowl, and cheeses, whether the meats are simple
roasted or grilled, or served with sauces.
