Bourgogne
(Burgundy):
The Pinot Noirs from Burgundy are the source of myths and legends.
The climate is variable from year to year and the steep slopes
and chalky soil sure to stress even the most resilient vine. The
Pinot Noir grape is at home here because this environment is capable
of delivering the grape's most desirable characteristics. Very appealing.
Cepage:
Pinot Noir.
About
the Producer: Jean Lefort, perhaps only distantly
related to the famous artist, became a winemaker out of passion
as opposed to heritage. A winemaker of tremendous skill and talent,
he has focused his efforts primarily on expressions of the specific
grapes – like Pinot Noir and Viognier. While not a vineyard owner,
per se , he searches out vineyards with unique attributes
which affect the maturation of the grapes. A purist and a perfectionist,
his wines inevitably reflect the personality of the vintner.
Tasting
Notes: A beautiful intense red with aromas of
ripe fruits and jam combine harmoniously to exhibit a well-balanced
fruited flavor with round tannins.
Recommended
Food Pairings: Red meats and cheeses.
