Jean Lefort
Vin de Pays - Viognier

The Viognier grape was nearly extinct when a number of adventurous vignerons began to replant these vines in the southern Rhone as well as in Languedoc and Rousillon.  A rare and sought-after grape for its sumptuous character.

Very appealing.

Cepage: Viognier.

About the Producer:  Jean Lefort, perhaps only distantly related to the famous artist, became a winemaker out of passion as opposed to heritage. A winemaker of tremendous skill and talent, he has focused his efforts primarily on expressions of the specific grapes – like Pinot Noir and Viognier. While not a vineyard owner, per se, he searches out vineyards with unique attributes which affect the maturation of the grapes. A purist and a perfectionist, his wines inevitably reflect the personality of the vintner.

Tasting Notes:  Ripe and Voluptuous.   This white wine defines refreshment! A brilliant golden color introduces a bouquet that is fresh and clean with the characteristic floral/violet perfume of the grape enhanced by luscious peach, pear and subtle spice nuances.  Impressive ripeness and depth, this wine develops with the delightful, round fruitiness of peaches and pears with an underlying floral spiciness.  Long and expressive in the mouth, a refreshing wine with great structure and fabulous, very refreshing finish.

Recommended Food Pairings: Souffles, omelets, chicken, fish, cheeses.
