IGT
Nero
D'Avola: The Nero d'Avola IGT is one of the best-structured
red wines you can find. The Nero d'Avola grape variety always produces
a high-sugar content fruit, which makes it possible to produce a
wine with over 15% alcoholic content. However, by following certain
criteria, Vinicola Tombacco
was
able to reduce its sugar content and to raise its acidity.
Varietal:
Nero d'Avola. Today's
Nero D'Avola is grown over 14,000 hectares of land, and it is thus
the most widespread grapevine in the region of Sicily. The Nero
D'Avola varietal is mostly grown with the ancient small-tree method
or by trellis.
About
the Producer:
The Vinicola Tombacco
wine cellar was established almost a century ago, in Trebaseleghe,
a small rural village in the heart of the northeast of Italy, between
the cities of Venice and Padua. As the Italian wine commerce shifted
to this area, the cellar expanded its markets
and commercial activities beyond this region. Aware of its heritage,
the cellar reached out by diligently developing trusting relationships
with a number of winemakers and by seizing the opportunity to select
the best wines, both locally and throughout Italy . The past teaches
us how to select the barrel for a particular harvest or production,
the research allows us to obtain consistent results in quality and
the development allows us to minimize bottling problems. Each phase
is just as important, and the skills necessary to be able to harmonize
the past and the present, technology and tradition, research and
territory, can only be the result of passion and love for this wonderful
product, which is wine.
Tasting
Notes:
This fine wine features a strong intense ruby red colour and
great character, well balanced and warm. The
bouquet is rich with ripe cherry and blackberry fruit scents
backed by nuances of earth, herbs, black pepper and bay leaf.
On the palate, the wine is juicy, ripe and lively with hearty
black fruit and cherry flavors enhanced by herbal and spice
elements that give it an assertive and pleasantly mouthfilling
character. Sicilian cuisine is noted for bold and robust flavors
and the Terre Nuove has the stuffing to match. Dry,
full, balanced. |
Recommended
Food Pairings:
Roasts, fried food,
stews of both white and read meat, poultry and game. Good
persistence on the palate calls for hearty, everyday cuisine
like pasta with meat sauce or roast chicken. |
