2006 and 2007
Le Martelet
AOC Pouilly-Fuissé

Pouilly-Fuissé: Part of the huge white wine producing district of the Mâconnais, the appellation of Pouilly-Fuissé produces six million bottles of white wine every year. Made entirely with the Chardonnay grape and varying in quality from the basic to the sublime, the wines of Pouilly-Fuissés are some of the most famous white Burgundies in the world. At their best, however, these wines have powerful, fruity aromas, often developing unusual complexity after a few years in the bottle.

About the Producer: Maurice and Corine Desrayaud produce this light, dry wine in a manner that makes it one of the best wines from its region. An important element of the depth of these wines is the vineyard location near the village of Vergisson. These wines are the perfect complement for poultry or seafood.

Tasting Notes:  2006: A beaut of a Chardonnay without the signature Chardonnay pucker.  The complex fruit and floral aromas of this wine carry forward to its flavor.  Well balanced acids make this a refreshing wine.  2007:  Again, a well-balanced and delightful Chardonnay.

Recommended Food Pairings : This wine is enhanced by food - Shellfish, White meats, Veal piccata as well as Cheese Souffle, Turkey, Cheddar and Gloucester Cheeses, and salads.
