Château La Roberterie

2005  (2002 half bottles)
Alfred and Maïte Pantarotto
AOC Bordeaux Supérieur

The red wines of Bordeaux Supérieur, an appellation just outside of Saint-Émilion, are crafted from merlot, cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon and surpass many Bordeaux red wines. This wine matures with grace and is ideal for aging. Chateau La Roberterie is a fine petit château Bordeaux from the commune of Juillac, on the banks of the Dordogne River . The striking, nearly white soils of the village reflect the high lime content. Freddy and Maïte Pantarotto tend their vineyards with meticulous care. Blended from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, it has impressive fruit expression and fine balance.

True to the reputation of the region, the soil's high iron content and rolling hills contribute to the rich structure, flavor and longevity of the wines.

Cepages: Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon.

About the Producer: Château La Roberterie is a family-owned estate of 11 hectares on the slopes of Juillac, a little village near Saint-Émilion. Alfred and Maïte Pantarotto strive to produce a full bodied, fruity and elegant wine. "Freddie" is the third generation of his family to steward this property.

Tasting Notes:  A rich red color and the aromas of small red and black fruits are precursors to this well balanced Bordeaux red. This wine has a forward bouquet of ripe cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant fruits interwoven with nuances of herbs, earth and spice. Extraordinarily supple and smooth on the palate, it has soft, rounded cherry and blackberry fruit flavors with the elegant, cedary, herbal, earthy elements that offer complexity and hedonistic pleasure.

Recommended Food Pairings: Grilled red meats, duck and cheeses.  Palate pleasing a very versatile.
