Château Bergon-Deltour

(formerly Château Rouquette)
The Bergon Family
AOC Cahors

AOC Cahors  The limestone character of the soil accounts for the outstanding quality of this wine. True to the reputation of Cahors, this red wine is dark, tannic, and long-lived but, due to the iron in the soil, the wine remains soft and low in acid while the Merlot aspect confers a delightful fruitiness.  There is intrigue in every sip.

Cepages: Auxerrois (Malbec) and Merlot

About the Producer: Jean-Luc and Dominique Bergon. The Bergons have been producing wine in Cahors, the heart of Quercy, since 1898. They focus their efforts on developing a traditional wine consistent with the unique attributes of their land.

Tasting Notes: In the glass, this wine is deep red with purplish highlights.  The nose is fruity, slightly floral while leathery.  Its flavors are expressive and long, well-structured and full.

Recommended Food Pairings: This is a deep, luxurious wine; think of foods that require a counter point.  Beef and Lamb, cheese, duck confit.

Awards:  Silver medal at the Concours of Independent Winemaker of France; Guide Hachette 2006
